DIY Accounting Questions & Answers

General Installation and Purchase Questions

Q 1. Is there an alternative payment method to using paypal?

A 1. Yes, cheques can be accepted. Visit our contact page and send your cheque payable to Terry Cartwright at the address shown with a note of the package required and your email address

Q 2,  Having difficulty downloading the files it keeps asking me for my user name and authorisation code or password.

A 2. You are not visiting the correct page as no log in or password is required

You are probably attempting to re-login to the Paypal site or the DIY Accounting Affiliate members area.

Click the URL in the confirmation email to access the download page.

Q 3. After payment I wasn't returned to the website to download the product

A 3. This can happen when payment is made by credit card or the paypal sequence is interrupted in some way, please be patient as all internet purchases receive a confirmation thank you note which contains a link to the download page from where your purchase can be downloaded.

Q 4, How do I download the product from the website.

A 4, First create a new accounts folder on your computer. Right click each of the links on the download page and save each file to that folder on your computer hard drive.

Q 5. The files don't seem to be linking together.

A 5. This can be for one of 2 reasons:

A 5.1 If you have changed the name of a file the links from that file to other files will be broken.

Solution: change the file name back to the original file name.

A 5.2 If during the download process files were opened first before saving then these files are store3d on your computer with temporary links for you to view them. If that file is then subsequently saved then what you are saving is the temporary links not the original links which causes the files not to link together.

Solution: delete the file and resave from the download page direct to your accounts folder without opening the files first.

Q 6, I cannot open any of the files.

A 6. This happens if you do not have excel installed on your computer as the files are written on excel spreadsheets and if excel is not installed your computer does not recognise the file type.

Q 7.  I have saved all the files from the download page but when I click the file name my computer tries to connect to the internet.

A 7. This is because you have not actually downloaded the files to your computer but saved the links from the download page.

Solution: Go back to the download page sent to you and right click each link and save each file to your computer

Q 8. When I open the excel file I cannot see any tabs along the bottom of the page to navigate from one sheet to another.

A 8. This is because as in A 7 above you have probably saved the links not the excel files themselves and you are looking at the file on the internet not saved the file saved on your computer.

Solution: Go back to the download page sent to you and right click each link and save each file to your computer
